X-Rank Hunter - Chapter 59: Sheiyn's Worry
“Are you for real? You didn’t even change your clothes or do anything?”
The trio was now all at the dining room. Charley and Sheiyn were still talking with each other happily when Jim came. Charley frowned when she immediately noticed that her son didn’t do anything at all to clean himself.
Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, Jim had also just noticed it and really felt embarrassed this time. He was enthralled with learning to get stronger that he forgot about cleaning himself.
Should I go back? Jim was still planning to go back in his room and do something to clean himself when Sheiyn suddenly spoke from the side, “It’s really fine Tita.”
Sheiyn smiled towards Charley but when her gaze landed on Jim it became so fierce that Jim felt a shudder down to his spine. She was like this not because of him not cleaning himself but because of what had happened earlier.
The heck! Jim also realized this. He could tell that the other party was still angry at him. He just told her that he was simply amazing that was why he was able to let his consciousness wander around. Why did she not believe him at all?
Did you already forget that I saved your life from the wolf a while ago? Why are you being like this onto me?
Jim really wanted to cry this time. He was trying his best to win her good side but he ended up incurring her bad side. What was with his luck?
Charley saw both of them as she chuckled softly and inwardly. She knew that there was no enmity between them but only some kind of child fight. “Since it’s fine with our visitor here then what are you waiting for? Sit and let’s eat!”
“Y-yes!” Jim hurriedly replied and hurriedly sat on the chair.
They then prayed to God and thanked him for the food before them as they began eating. The two girls chatted with each other nonstop about all sorts of things and they were both happy. As for Jim, he remained silent the whole time and no one bothered him as well. He couldn’t even understand what they were talking about so he really felt out of place.
Knowing that his existence was completely ignored, Jim rushed his eating. He really was hungry at that time. There were a lot of foods on the table enough for ten people or more. Meat, vegetables, rice, etc. all sorts of everyday food were there but nothing was so special.
But Jim didn’t care, he ate and ate until the two girls finally noticed him. They were chatting with each other the whole time as they only ate less and slowly but seeing Jim eating in a rush, their happy moments were interrupted but they didn’t say a thing and only watched.
Jim didn’t care though. They completely ignored him the whole time so he would definitely do the same, without regrets.
Tic tac tic tac, time ran slowly and Jim finished eating almost all the food on the table with a burp. He didn’t even spare a glance to the both of them as he stood up and intended to go back in his room.
“Your son is good at eating…” Sheiyn commented with a forceful smile.
“Y-yes.” Charley agreed reluctantly. This was the first time she saw her son being like that.
However, when Jim was making his way back to his room, Sheiyn seemed to remember something very important. She had forgotten about this since she was so busy seeking the presence of Charley to thank her for what she had done to her but now that she recalled about it, worries immediately flooded in her heart.
She just recalled about the wolf that was chasing her earlier! This wolf was something very important to her. Finding this wolf and getting it back was of the utmost importance.
“Wait!” Sheiyn called out to Jim. The one who saved her earlier was this kid. And she certainly knew where the wolf was.
Jim however smiled but didn’t bother turning around and continued walking away instead.
“She said wait! Don’t you hear her?” However, at that moment, another voice sounded. Not only that, this voice felt a bit terrifying. It was of course the voice of his mom. Jim immediately felt a shudder as he immediately answered and turned around frantically, “W-what is it?!”
What the heck! Just who is your son?
Jim was now starting to doubt if he was really his mother’s son. It looked like his mother was even more concerned about this girl than him!
“The wolf. Where is it?” Sheiyn didn’t beat around the bush and immediately get to the point.
“The wolf?” Jim repeated those words to make sure if he heard it right.
“Yes, the wolf. The wolf that was chasing me earlier. Where is it now?” Sheiyn asked with a stern look.
“That…” Jim also remembered about it now but the wolf was already dead. He killed it when he saved the girl! So why was this girl looking for it now?
Earlier when Jim crafted a story and told them how did the blue light saved the girl, he didn’t mention that the wolf was already dead since he thought that this wolf was just some kind of random beast and he thought as well that there was no significance telling whatever happened to the wolf.
So all he mentioned was that the blue light saved the girl from the wolf.
But why did this girl looking for the wolf now? He even already forgotten about this wolf. Was this wolf really that important?
Of course, all Jim knew was that the wolf was already dead since he had already passed out when The Life gave Bantay the last gift and revived all the Tree-Merger Apes including the wolf. So he really was oblivious to the fact that the wolf had been revived and was now his tamed beast and was waiting for him outside the village.
“The wolf is… dead.” Jim hesitated for a moment but he still told what he knew.
“What?!” Sheiyn stood up from her seat as her two hands slammed on the table with a loud thud, “How is that possible?! No, it shouldn’t be dead… Where is the corpse? I need proof!”
The wolf was very important to her. After all, it was their family treasure!
She just brought it with her to escape from her family’s presence. After all, one of the many special abilities of this wolf was to erase all its tracks making it impossible for any pursuer to follow it. Even High Rankers were helpless against it.
Sheiyn could still tame the wolf when her amulet was still with her. But when she bumped into some beasts, she fought with them but she never thought that she would be injured in the process and would lose her amulet as well.
She then lost control over the wolf as the wolf had gone rampaged and killed all the other beasts they were fighting. But when the wolf finished killing the other beasts it started chasing after Sheiyn.
Sheiyn could only run. But the wolf didn’t stop chasing after her. She even thought that this wolf would be the one that would end her life.
But when she was cornered at the foot of the cliff and was about to be eaten by the wolf, someone suddenly fell from the sky and landed right on top of the wolf’s head. That time, her sight was already so blurry and she was about to pass out. She could only see the back of a boy facing against her before she finally passed out. She really didn’t know what happened to the wolf after that.
But now, the boy was telling her that the wolf had died just like that? He’d just fell from the sky, wasn’t it inconceivable that her wolf, their family treasure, would die just from that?
If however, the wolf really died that time, then this was surely a huge loss for them especially for her family. She really was doomed if that happened.
“I…” Jim didn’t know what to say. Seeing the reaction of the other party, it seemed like the wolf really was very important to her. But what else could he do? The wolf really had fallen from his fist and his incredible ability to absorb blood.
“If you are talking about the wolf that was chasing you a while ago, it’s waiting outside the village together with my subordinates.” That time, however, when Jim was completely lost for words, Bantay who was lying down on the sofa suddenly spoke. He got up from the sofa and came over to their direction to join the discussion.
Earlier, he was invited by Charley to come over as well and eat but he refused politely since he was not too used to eating human food. So he just decided to stay and lie down on the sofa for the meantime. It was a bit relaxing though.
But when he heard Sheiyn seeking for the wolf from his Master who he knew well that his Master was completely oblivious to it, Bantay’s attention was immediately piqued.
But seeing Sheiyn who would die out of worry, Bantay could only interject from their talkings.
