Xenarra: The Dragon Throne - Chapter 17 The new member
As I regained my full vision I noticed that my hand that I had cut was fully healed. Also I could see further into the dark and noise more especially just around me. As I took a step forward I nearly fell over. I moved so much faster than before. I also felt like I was stronger as well. I thought to myself no wonder they said it was harder to fight demon’s without awakening. They make you so much stronger I felt like I could kill hundreds of the lesser demons now.
I slowly stepped back out of the circle so others could have their awakening. Next up was Gram. He went forward and did the same as me. The same chant was heard. I then saw his blood ignite like mine and the fire go up his blood into his hand. This time I could see what happened. It looks like he has fire for blood as his blood vessels were bright red, then what would I assume when he had his vision his body became covered in flames. Once his vision was ending I saw the flames dying down. Once that had gone he nearly fell over before adjusting himself to his new found strength. The other seven all went up next, their awakenings were all virtually the same.
Once everyone was finished. The general looked at us for a few moments. “Adoh as a reward for killing the demons, I hereby promote you to sergeant. All you will also be made into a first class unit. I haven’t found a company yet but I have an idea of who will fill up the squad so it is full strength. So for now you will be an independent squad who will be under my direct command.
“Thank you sir!” We all yelled at the same time. I was so surprised at what he had said as were the others I assumed. What he had said meant that we would be in close contact with him, allowing us to be noticed more, so therefore we would have a higher chance for promotion. Which is exactly what I want.
“Now all of you go back to your barracks and report to the training field in the morning. The new member of your squad will be there……Adoh before you leave can we talk.” I can go to where the general is. As I got closer to him everyone else in the room had left. Once the door had closed, “So Adoh what did you see in your vision, we can try and use it to determine which clan you are from.”
In an exuberant voice, “I didn’t really so much just a figure holding something and a massive dragon I assume in the background.”
He sighed after I said that. “Guess only more bloodline awakening will male the image clearer. Now go, you have a long day tomorrow.”
After getting back to the barracks everyone got up and gave me a mini salute. “Well now you lead us officially by rank now. We won’t just follow you due to your skill anymore.” Their declaration caused a little smile to come to my face.
“We are brothers, I may lead us but if you don’t like where I lead, say that you don’t and I will stop. For now I lead us…to bed.” After that we all found ourselves a bed and went almost immediately to sleep. The next day I woke up first and got into some clothes to train in. Then I woke everyone up, just like how I was woken up on my last day at home by my brother. With a bucket of water. It woke them all up rather quickly. Though I got some nasty looks as well to go with it.
Once they were all changed and dried. We grabbed some light food for breakfast from the food master. Then headed to the training grounds. On arriving there was a woman in armor like us. Seeing us she walked towards us. “Which one of you is sergeant Adoh.”
“I am an error legionary.” I was confused at why she was here.
“I am legionary Usha. I am not dragon blood but phoenix blood. I am here because, ummm, I was exiled from my home and I want to gain the skills and strength to go home on my own and live a proper life.” She said this all while standing to attention. She had long dark hair and hair eyes were a hazel colour. She looked fair but also had a resolve in her eyes that I didn’t see much.
“Fall in then with the others. We have got a lot of training to do.” Following orders she fell in with the others. I caught some of them gazing at her ass. Which was clearly showing her armour. An evil grin emerged on my face.
“Squad. Do ten laps around the field. Fall out.”
Once they had finished that, there still was no one out here to teach us. So I got her to pick up a weapon and spare it against each other. I ended up against grim. It was just some basic stabbing and a few slashes. I tried parrying them and even a little counter stab when I blocked him once. At that moment I heard a voice.
“Stop there, I think I can tell what you can all do. Which one of you is Adoh? I am Alfonzo by the way. I am not from here as you can tell by my name.” His voice was light which was surprising. He was battle scarred as well but looked quite light, definitely not blucky.
“I am Adoh, sir.” He looked at me up and down taking a good look at me. Then he walked around me, poking my body at different parts. As he stood in front of me again. It felt like his eyes were staring straight into my soul.
“You will do nicely. You should be able to wield mana extremely well. Do you know how to sense it? If so can you sense it?” I nodded to his first question but shook my head to the second as I haven’t had much time trying to practise since I left my uncle’s house. “Ok, I see. If you go over there get yourself settled and don’t leave until you can sense something at least.
I did as he said. Walked over to a shaded area and sat down cross legged on to the dirt. Just like I was shown that time by Lars. I let my senses go and spread out around me trying to feel mana. Just like before I had no luck. Then remembering Sam’s note I took out the medallion and tried to sense the special mana like she did. Much to my surprise I felt something. It was like the medallion was emitting a blood red light.
I focused my senses on it. It felt hot but at the same time dangerous. It thought I could hear screams reminding me of the recent battle but on a scale much worse. It would make the battle I was in look like child’s play. As I opened my eyes to my surprise it was night time. The trainer Alfonzo was still here.
“Good you didn’t take as long as I thought you would. In fact it didn’t take you long at all. Only a couple of days.”
