“Maybe I’ve been wrong about light novels all along.”
“Oh, you understand it now?”
As we were eating lunch in the courtyard again, Koyuki bowed her head in a formal manner.
Naoya gave a wry smile.
Apparently, Koyuki’s perception of light novels was completely changed by that one book.
“I apologize for thinking that Sasahara-kun was reading something called ‘ecchi’… Really, I should have known better. I realize that was rude.”
“Ye- yeah. It’s fine…”
Naoya smiled awkwardly back at her.
(Well of course, I lent her my normal one, but…of course I also read “Ecchi” manga and novels.)
I also own extreme romantic comedies that I wouldn’t recommend to Koyuki, as a matter of course. I’m a boy, so I can’t help it.
However, I wanted to prevent the girl I like from finding out about it.
Without noticing Naoya’s slight cold sweats, Koyuki let out a sigh.
“It’s really an exciting story of adventure, especially the part where Fran, who was initially pushy with the main character, becomes more honest… that was really a death flag…”
“A-ah…Never mind…”
I gulped down the spoiler and comforted Koyuki, who was covering her face with a sinking feeling of disappointment.
The kuudere character who is thought to be…dead in the first volume is apparently her favorite. Maybe she feels sympathy for her because of the similarities between them
“Do you want to read the second volume then? I brought it with me because I think you would like it.”
“I appreciate it, but I’m already in the middle of reading it.”
Koyuki then took out the second volume and showed it to me.
“My sister had all the books. I guess all you need is family.”
❄️「妹が全巻持ってたの。やっぱり持つべきものは家族だわ」❄️
“Hmm. Sakuya-chan has a pretty good taste.”
“Oh, you know my sister?”
“Yeah. We ran into each other yesterday.”
In fact, I was kidnapped and confined. I didn’t say anything about it and let it slide.
Koyuki also stroked the cover of the second volume happily, without any further questioning.
“Heh, heh. I read a little bit at a time during breaks. So we can talk about it after school.”
“Ah, well….not today. I have to work a part-time.”
Then Naoya realized something.
Today is Friday and I have to work part-time. When I told her that, Koyuki lowered her eyebrows.
“Oh, I see… That’s a shame… I was hoping we would be able to talk about it…together.”
Koyuki’s gaze fell on the light novel in question.
When Naoya saw the title… He clapped his hands.
“Oh, but it could be the other way around.”
“Hmm..?”
“Why don’t you come visit me at my place of work, Shirogane-San? Then we can talk and the Manager would love to have you.”
“Eee… I don’t want to interrupt your work.”
“I don’t mind. It’s just a store that the Manager runs for fun.”
Naoya’s part-time job is at a used bookstore. There are rarely any customers, and the only work he does at the store is occasionally delivering books to customers in the neighborhood.
It could be said that the owner opens the store only to lead a decent social life, completely disregarding profit.
When I explained this, Koyuki nodded her head.
“Hiring a part-time worker at a store for fun is a strange thing… What kind of person is the manager there?”
“Well, in a nutshell…”
Naoya thought of the familiar face of the store Manager.
Despite having an overabundance of attributes, if I had to say one thing, it would be this.
“She’s like a grown-up sister, I guess.”
“…..huh?”
The moment I said those words, Koyuki’s eyebrows twitched. In addition, the air around her began to tingle. With a dignified look on her face, Koyuki opened her mouth quietly.
“All right. Let’s go. I’d rather you take me.”
“Oh.. She’s not the kind of person you think she is Shirogane-San. The manager and I can’t raise any flags or anything like that.”
“Is she married, or does she have a boyfriend?”
“No, I don’t think so.”
“I’m going.”
“Yes, but I’m only interested in you Shirogane-San.”
“You may be, but you don’t know what other women will think!”
Koyuki proceeded to eat her lunch, pouting and angry.
Was that the result of being honest, or was it a slip of the tongue when she got cornered? Probably the latter.
(Hmmm…. there seem to be some misisunderstandings, but well, it’s okay. She’ll understand when she meets her.)
So Naoya also proceeded to eat his lunch quietly. You will know as soon as you meet her that there will never be a flag.
