You Didn’t Tell Me the Start of My Transmigration Was a Gate - Chapter 4
The Start of Her Return (4)
“Excuse me…..”
The man who had bothered me earlier came up to me once again. He opened his mouth to speak as I looked at him with a ‘what do you want?’ expression.
“Thank you for saving us. You’re our life benefactor.”
“Pack your bag well if you’re aware of that. I doubt we’ll be able to enter the indoor gym without a price to pay.”
As desperate as the situation was, I could not respond with nice words– it was the truth that they are all burdens from my stand. If I were alone, I could have used this mart as a base and avoided the monsters for let alone three years, but five years instead.
“What is your name?”
“…..Pardon?”
Was it time for him to be leisurely asking about names?
“I can’t always be saying ‘excuse me’ when addressing you.”
“…Please call me Han Seo-Ha.”
“I’m Kwon Sung-Min.”
“Well, okay…”
Let me say this first. Before I returned, it was right before the Earth was about to collapse, so I did not have the leisure to make small talk with others.
Which meant my sociality was…. practically zero! Since I had never shared my personal stories with other hunters!
“Do you possibly possess some Unique Skills?”
“Yes.”
“Might I ask what skill…”
“That’s something I don’t want to tell you.”
Anyone with eyes could have seen that I possessed the unique skill – Spatial Interference. But during this time, Spatial Interference was more widely used as teleportation, or basically long-distance traveling.
It was after I had survived this damned gate and specialized in it where ‘Blink’ had come to light, as it was a skill used for short-distance traveling and mostly in combat situations.
“And feel free to talk comfortably with me.”
I must have looked to be relatively young at this point in time, and Kwon Sung-Min was probably around in his late 20s, so it was funny to see him using polite speech with me.
“Can I do that? Seo-Ha, you should speak comfortably with me too.”
“Sure.”
I had waited for that. I, too, let go of my polite speech immediately. Although I might look like a high-school student now, Kwon Sung-Min was a newbie to me.
“It’s quite late now, and many are still in shock. Why don’t we spend the night here and leave first thing in the morning? Since some people are still feeling anxious…”
He acted as if I was the leader of the group. Unfortunately, I had no interest in supporting anyone.
“If you want. A day should be fine. We can temporarily cover up the collapsed wall with plastic.”
“Plastic?”
“I’ve said that earlier. Without one side of the wall, a wind raker can come in without us knowing. If we want to prevent that, we should at least cover up with plastic so that when it comes in, it would make a sound.”
Kwon Sung-Min nodded in agreement at my words. Of course, I have incredibly keen senses and would be able to tell right away, but I did not want to let them see me escape this place in the middle of the night again.
Sung-Min notified everyone that we would set off tomorrow and to pack their bags properly tonight.
Soon, two groups were formed, one to prepare dinner and the other to repair the collapsed wall. Some were even assigned to keep watch throughout the night.
I thought that it was best to let Kwon Sung-Min lead the group. He might have died in the past, but since he was recommended to enter the academy, he must have been a useful talent. I could not possibly protect everyone alone, so it was best to put Kwon Sung-Min to good use.
I’ll just have to simply explain a few things to him later, right?
“Student.”
A familiar voice called out to me. It was the middle-aged lady who grabbed my wrist. Her under eyes looked puffy, but that warm and innocent look remained.
“Student Seo-Ha. It must have been tough, right? Eat some of this.”
She said in a low voice and placed a piece of bread in my hand. It seemed like she was part of the group that was preparing dinner. Kwon Sung-Min should have prohibited access to the food ingredients, but she sneaked out a piece for me, much like a grandmother giving food to her granddaughter. I was grateful since it was definitely more delicious than canned food.
“Thank you.”
“No, no. If it wasn’t for you, it would have been worse for all of us…”
She was right. Since all of them were destined to die here.
