You Plus Me Equals - Chapter 39
He scoffed in Sam’s face.
‘This was interesting… Had that been a flirty invitation?…’ He stared at Sam.
‘He knew this guy’s reputation. But the way Sam was looking at him. It felt a bit like a spark… But maybe he was reading into things?’
‘No harm in testing the waters… Right?’ Evan thought hopefully.
He took one more step in, closing the gap between them. Then he pulled a hand out from his pocket and stepped in close enough that their faces were only a few inches away from each other. He pointed at Sam, then slowly turned his index finger to point at himself.
Sam smirked and leaned forward so that they were almost lip to lip, bringing their heads to the exact same height.
“Nope, not at all.”
“Did you forget all of what I said before? I don’t care who anyone loves, because love is love.” Sam reached down without moving his face and grabbed Evans’ finger. He wrapped his hand around Evan’s and slowly lifted it and turned it back so it was facing himself.
“It applies to me too… I have no gender preference.” He said smiling, challengingly.
Evan made a small nod as if he was just coming to understand the situation.
Sam smiled giddily.
Evan knew Sam must think he had gotten him. He must think he is so smart because he thought he made Evan look shocked for a quick moment.
Evan did his best to bite down on the smile that itched to crease his face. ‘The cute idiot had played right into his hands.’
He quirked his head to the side thoroughly pleased with himself.
“So, what are you saying? You suddenly are hitting on me now that you have made it clear you are not interested in Max?” Evan said scoffing.
“Well, aren’t you all sort of fun? Kissing one guy one day, calling another cute the next.” He chided Sam.
“Oh.” Sam paused.
“Don’t feel so special, I call everyone cute,” Sam added cheekily, grinning to cover up the small moment of hurt that had flashed in his eyes but Evan hadn’t missed it and reminded himself to figure out what that was later.
Evan’s face turned sour, he scoffed. ‘Yeah, stay away. You don’t need another guy like him… They are trouble… remember that. All they can do is hurt, people.’ He took a few steps backward, staring at Sam intently as he did so. Showing him the clear space he was putting between them.
‘Nope, that kinda sexual tension he could leave behind!’ Evan cringed inside at the casualty with which Sam had said those words to him.
‘Once a player always a player.’ He reminded himself.
“But calling you cute just gave me an idea,” Sam said, unaware he had upset Evan.
“That sounds dangerous. Are you allowed to think? Hasn’t that been heralded as too dangerous of an experiment?” Evan said, the snide contempt in his voice sounded harsh, and he wrinkled his nose a little.
“Haha, hilarious…” Sam pulled a face at Evan and Evan couldn’t help but smile despite his annoyance.
“No, Seriously though. Hear me out.” Sam continued.
Evan rolled his eyes but motioned with his hand for Sam to go on.
“Date me, please?” Sam said cutely, an extremely large grin on his face.
“Let’s date!” He winked at Evan and waited for his answer expectantly.
Even started and blinked in shock.
‘My ears must be broken… did he just say what I think he did? Did he really just drop that random bomb out of nowhere? What even goes through this guy’s head on a regular basis?’ He gave Evan a ginormous, charming smile.
Evan’s mouth dropped. He couldn’t even wrap his brain around this guys stupid.
‘Yup, Sam, you’re an idiot.’
