You Will Forever Be My Always - Chapter 33 (Riku's P.O.V)
It’s been over a year since Aia left for college. It’s been lonely and quiet around the house we both stayed in and to distract me from thinking about her was going to college on my own too. I stayed in Japan for college instead of going out of the country because I’m still in the middle of filming movies and doing premieres. I haven’t heard anything from Aia ever since I saw her at the airport, but her newest work has been selling out all over the world. It was a book called “The Sound of Your Voice”, which became her number one hit and made even more money than “Tears of Endearment”, which was also a shock since that was her most selling book for at least 5 months straight.
Anyways after she left for america, my father decided to also made a business deal with Sun Hee’s father and he arranged our marriage. I didn’t like the idea at first in which I wrote to Aia about it. From time to time, Aia and I would write letters to each other about our lives and what’s new. We didn’t use texting because we also didn’t want other people to track and hack into our messages so we choose to write letters.
I decided to write her a letter about mine and Sun Hee’s marriage which is happening next week. I wanted her to be there and I know her and Sun Hee aren’t the best of friends, but I want her to be there for me. I would be so happy to just at least see her once.
Dear Aia,
Hey Aia, how are you? Are you doing well? Are you eating healthy? I hope you are and I hope you’re doing well in school and yes I am doing well and eating healthy. I’ve also applied for college that’s only a few hours away from LSC Entertainment too and I’ve been doing so many movies and dramas that my career is really taking off. Oh! and congratulations on your book “The Sound of Your voice”,which became a huge hit back here in Japan! I’m so happy and proud of you! I can’t wait till your next book signing. Maybe I’ll come to america just to see you get get your autograph! Anyways, my father arranged a marriage for Sun Hee and I and I wanted to invite you to our wedding next week. I know everything between us have been rocky ever since I got back from New Zealand, but I’m hoping that we can be friends again and hangout like we use to and how we can always rely in each other and I really hope you can make it to our wedding. It would mean so much to me.
Sincerely,
Riku Takahashi.
When I got done writing the letter I sealed it in an envelope and mailed it off to her in California where she was staying at. I did miss her and I always looked forward to her letters every day and yeah I did have feelings for her, but I realized that I those feelings could’ve just been fake or a distraction. I don’t really know though.
“Riku I’m home.” A voice said from the other room.
“Welcome home Sun Hee.” I said.
I sold the house Aia and I stayed in during our engagement since it was full of happy and sad memories and moments that we both made in that house and I just couldn’t live in that house with the fact that I was happy with only one person, so I sold it to Mrs. Yua and her family while my faher bought another house for Sun Hee and I.
“Did you go dress shopping for the wedding?” I asked.
“I’m going tomorrow with Cherry, what about you and your suit shopping?” Sun Hee asked.
“I’m also going tomorrow, but with Arata.” I said.
“Isn’t it crazy that just a year ago we were just friends.” She said.
“Yeah.” I said and her phone started ringing. She kissed me on the cheek and went to the other living room to answer it.
Lately Sun Hee has been busy with her career of being an actress and so on, but it feels like she barely has anytime for me which I don’t mind cause I don’t really like her that way, but I guess it’s whatever my father wants. I went outside and sat on the stairs and looked at the sunset. It was beautiful with a mixture of pink and purple. Aia would’ve loved it. I know it’s wrong of me thinking about someone else when I’m getting married to another girl next week, but everytime I look at the sunset it reminds me of her. Just remembering those time of when we were on the balcony and watching the sunset together makes me miss her so much, but I know I shouldn’t feel that way since I’m engaged now.
I stayed outside watching the sun slowly go down and watch the stars come up and take over the sky. The process was quite beautiful actually. Sun Hee never watches the sunset with me instead she stays inside talking on the phone all day and night and goes out to dinner on her own before she comes home, so I never actually had a meal with her.
Truth is I don’t even want to be in this marriage. I’ve always wanted to be with Aia ever since I knew that I loved her. I know that it was a mistake of hanging out with Sun Hee nonstop back in New Zealand and after I got discharged from the hospital a year ago.
“I guess this is the consequence.” I whispered to myself while looking up to the sky.
