You Won’t Understand Me - Chapter 117
The serious thinking part would be taking more time since the news of the arrival of their long-awaited guest came this morning.
“Yuan is coming today,” Zeng said, smiling wide as he looked at the text on his phone about the plane’s schedule.
Yul merely hummed.
The relationship between Zeng and Yul, though not strained, surely had a little bit of tension due to last week’s situation, which Zeng hoped would resolve during his brother’s stay. Yuan’s presence would be a breath of fresh air and also, he just really missed his brother.
“The airport is near your Bureau. Will you pick him up?” The doctor requested.
Yul thought for a while. Was it really necessary for him to go? It was not that he didn’t want to interact with Zeng’s brother but the reason was that he was not welcomed for it. But since Zeng had asked him, he couldn’t deny it.
“Yeah sure.” He agreed.
“Don’t bother with him okay?” Zeng warned as he began to send off his officer boyfriend. “You know he’s a brat.”
“Yeah.”
Upon receiving the alert, Yul reminisced about the first time he met Zeng’s family. He saw the three Xiao family members when he entered the house. All tall and lanky. No wonder Zeng was like the way he was.
Mr Xiao who looked like a professor was actually a professor. Mrs Xiao had appeared strict and prompt, her overall demeanour made her look like she meant business.
The youngest member of the family was a younger version of Zeng, except for the mole below his lower lip and a lot more sharper eyes that made him look like a scowling cat. Zeng’s everlasting smile was nowhere to be found on his brother’s face, only a thin line of the lips. It appeared to Yul that perhaps the kid was not interested in meeting him.
He was shorter but his aura was deadly.
‘Fuck off’. He seemed to convey through his gaze.
Xiao Yuan was the grumpy boy’s name.
Right when Yul thought the younger boy was some stuck-up, the scowling face broke into a smile once he saw his older brother, his entire face softening and went in to hug Zeng.
What the hell was that? Yul was shocked.
Yul had seen this phenomenon in the anime as he had grown up. He had no idea he could meet someone like that.
Did he just witness a tsundere?!
“I get the impression that your brother hates me,” Yul repeated the same thing to Zeng as he did all those years back.
Zeng chuckled. “Yuan is a sweetheart, okay? He acts tough but is actually a fluffball. He doesn’t hate you.”
“Yeah yeah,” the officer mumbled, kissing his boyfriend before leaving for work.
=====
As the scheduled plane was yet to land, Yul waited. He glanced at his watch and the plane could be here anytime soon.
When he swept his eyes across the airport, he noticed some disturbances in the checking area. Loud voices were arguing, one of the party was definitely the police.
He was off duty but still, he went over there to look into the matter. An anti-narcotics squad stationed there was in a brawl with some angry passengers who were using the language of suing for police brutality.
“What’s the situation?” Yul inquired, walking into the checking area. The police recognised their senior from another unit and saluted at once.
“Sir, some passengers are not cooperating for the security check. We have received info about the smuggling of drugs from our intelligence and all passengers of this flight are under suspicion. The rest of the passengers had cooperated for the search but these two have not.”
Yul nodded. He then turned to the said passengers, two men, who had been clutching their luggage like their life depended on it.
“We ask for your kind cooperation, gentlemen. It would only take a few minutes,” Yul said, crossing his arms over his chest. The trick intimidated most of the criminals. He resumed, “If you both are sure of your innocence, there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
The men flinched. “But it’s an invasion of our privacy. W-We have already been checked at the previous stop once.” One of them tried.
“Good,” Yul hummed, noticing the stutter in the speaker’s voice. “Then there won’t be any harm to do it again. Also, my officers have a warrant here. I ask for your cooperation once again.”
The senior officer signalled his juniors to take the luggage for a security check.” With the encouragement from his senior, the junior officer didn’t hesitate to snatch the suitcase whose lock was then broken since the people in question said they forgot the passcode.
The bag was filled with plush toys.
The suspicions became even stronger at the sight.
The suspects visibly paled and had started sweating by now as the police started opening up the toys.
As soon as the fifth plush toy was opened, the edge of a transparent plastic bag popped out. Seeing that, one of the men decided to flee. He pushed the officer nearest to him and made our way towards the exit. The cops hurried behind him, including Yul.
It was a lost cause on the criminal’s part since security was present at every corner of the airport. However, he could pose a threat to the common people and so should be apprehended as soon as possible.
Announcements were made across the airport to stay clear of the area as the chase between the criminal and the police began.
The chase ended shortly after Yul successfully knocked him to the floor. The other man tried to resist but he was harshly pushed face down and his hands were locked behind his back.
The criminal had been successfully apprehended.
Soon a shadow loomed over him and Yul looked up to see a younger man looking down on him through his sunglasses. The guy had a suitcase behind him. A scowl was pasted on his face as he perched up the sunglasses over his head, sharp eyes scrutinizing the police officer.
“So you were the one who caused the commotion, huh?” The man said, scoffing, voice almost bitter. “No wonder.”
Yul did not know how to greet the man when a criminal was struggling beneath him to flee.
“Oh, hey Yuan.” He tried, starting with a smile.
