You Won’t Understand Me - Chapter 120
The morning came and the adults got ready for their jobs.
Zeng had to leave early today. He made breakfast. It was according to Yuan’s likings today, bread-omelette and sausages. Yul was fine with anything as long as it was not spicy and the quantity was sufficient.
“Good morning,” Zeng greeted as the sleepy guest got into the kitchen. “Morning,” said Yuan, stretching himself. He still had an hour before the meeting but the new house woke him up.
“Sleep well?” Zeng asked as he finished his breakfast and made a plate for his younger brother. Yuan merely nodded. Zeng put the plate in front of him and packed Yul’s lunch box.
“Okay. I am leaving early today, bye.” He said and went to Yuan, hugged him from the back and kissed the top of his head.
“Ew, get off. You are disgusting,” the younger man pouted, blushing lightly. “I am a big guy now. You don’t have to do that to me.”
“Alright big guy, Zeng mimicked his voice and face, ruffling his hair when Yuan glared at him. His younger brother was sure cute.
He then went to Yul and pressed a kiss smack on his lips.
Yuan rolled his eyes. “No PDA in front of my breakfast please,” he said between bites of the omelette.
Zeng ruffled his hair again before leaving.
“Hurry up and eat, I will drop you on my way,” Yul said, finishing up.
“No thanks. I can manage on my own.”
Yul cocked a brow. “Are you sure? It’s a new city for you.”
Yuan nodded. “I can perfectly handle myself.”
Yul agreed defeatedly. He also asked him to call him immediately if something happened or if he needed any help.
Yuan huffed. Apparently, everybody was treating him like a child despite being a grown-ass man. Yul had to go earlier than him so he decided to leave.
“Lock the door properly and keep the key safe.” The older man warned a word of caution.
“I am not a child,” said Yuan, sullen.
“Yeah yeah,” the police officer teased. “Bye baby Yuan.” He mimicked Zeng and was instantly received with a middle finger from the younger guy.
“Fuck you!”
Yul chuckled. Now he knew why Zeng would tease him because Yuan’s reaction was always cute. He was like a grumpy cat, a feral little animal. Yul waved him goodbye after telling him to be careful for one last time.
Yuan rolled his eyes before slamming the door on his face.
Shaking his head, Yul started his motorcycle and went to the bureau. A major case was transferred to his unit after having received minimum to nil progress from other bureaus.
Yul was sure his team could crack it down. But when he asked for the entire set of case papers, the virtual media was sent to the IT department and the IT guy of the unit has still not arrived yet.
Seeing the grim look on the captain’s face, the juniors whispered amongst themselves. JJ was definitely going to get yelled at.
An hour later, a head poked through the cabin’s door. “You called for me, boss?” JJ grinned goofily, a slight bit nervous though knowing that he was about to be scolded.
Yul motioned him to come in and welcomed him with a glare as he did so. The young man came in with freshly printed papers in his hand, the documents that were required for the progression of the case.
JJ placed the papers on his senior’s table. “Okay then boss, see ya later!” He scooted towards the door.
“JJ.” Came an orderly tone from the said senior and JJ stopped. He sheepishly faced Yul.
“Yes boss?”
Yul did not soften his glare. “Do you think everyone in this bureau is a fool to come to work on time?”
JJ laughed nervously. “Sorry.”
He fidgeted when Yul kept glaring, then almost whined.
“Aaah, I really didn’t mean to be late. But when I was on my way here, someone needed my help to find directions. So like a good police officer I helped them. Tell me, boss, is it wrong to help poor clueless citizens?”
The face that he said it with, made it look sincere, though dramatic but sincere enough. Yul sighed.
“This is the last time I am letting you off,” he said, collecting the papers. “Don’t be late again. The team is dependent on you for certain matters. Be responsible.”
“Yes boss!” JJ grinned and swiftly left with a salute.
Yul shook his head. None of these young people took him seriously.
=====
Zeng was home on time, with fresh ingredients for preparing dinner. It was after all the first time all the three would be having dinner together and Zeng wanted to make it special. Today’s menu was Chicken Teriyaki, one of Yuan’s favourite foods.
Seeing that, Yul deduced that this week was going to be ‘Yuan special’. There were none of his favourite dishes.
“It has been just one day since your brother came and I already feel abandoned,” Yul said with a frown as he watched his boyfriend busy in preparations.
Zeng chuckled. “What are you? A puppy?”
Yul whined, coming over to wrap his arms around Zeng from behind.
“I am cooking,” Zeng warned but Yul didn’t deter.
“I am afraid your little bratty brother will steal you away from me,” Yul complained, mumbling against his shoulder. Zeng laughed heartily.
After his work was done, the doctor turned around and nuzzled his boyfriend. “Yuan is not a thief to steal me away.” He said, lovingly, “Besides I am already yours.”
“Yes, you are,” Yul whispered against his lips before kissing him deeply. His hands found their way to catch Zeng by the hips and set him up on the counter.
They had to part away when the front door opened. It must be Yuan. Zeng already put some distance between them so that Yuan doesn’t make vomiting gestures when he sees them. This morning was enough to annoy him.
“Later,” Zeng patted his boyfriend’s cheek and got off the counter.
Yuan came waddling, throwing his back on the couch and heading straight to the kitchen. Zeng already prepared a glass of water for him, which Yuan gulped down in no time.
“Welcome back,” Zeng greeted with a smile but seeing the frown from his younger brother, he grimaced. “Bad first day at work?”
