You Won’t Understand Me - Chapter 95
The same day, they were graced with a video call from another country. As soon as Yul accepted the call, foul Korean and Chinese curses were thrown from the other side, which Zeng didn’t stick around to listen to and left Yul to deal with it alone.
Because this was beyond him and only Yul could calm the raging storm.
“You asshole, you were literally dying and I didn’t even know!” Subin yelled at the top of his voice, his angry face matching the blood red of his dyed hair. Yul grimaced.
“It was all over the news, Bin,” he deadpanned. “You have eyes.”
“Do I look like I watch news?” Subin retorted, his fingers pointed at his face, “I have a fucking management behind my ass to monitor me. I don’t get time to even watch the latest season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and you are telling me to watch the news. Bitch, I have a personal phone for a reason. You are supposed to call me on it when some shit like this happens!”
“So you are telling me that I should have called you when I was half-dead on the hospital bed,” Yul yelled back, “Such an idiot!”
“You are the idiot, you dumbass!”
“You shithead!”
“You fuc-… oh, hi Zeng ge,” Subin greeted and his neck snapped in a double-take. “Wait a second! Zeng ge is here?”
Zeng awkwardly sat near Yul as they faced the screen where Subin’s jaw was hanging open. Zeng waved at him. “Hi, Subin.”
Yul pulled Zeng closer and held his hand. Zeng looked at him, smiling before he looked at the screen, “We are back together.”
“Oh my fucking God! And you didn’t tell me? Dude, what else are you hiding?” Subin accused. “Whatever, I am so freaking happy that you guys are back together.”
“By the way, Zeng ge, did Yul tell you? I met someone?” He had a wide grin on his face, not the teasing or showy one but a simple, happy one.
Zeng shook his head, “Nothing in detail. Just the main stuff.”
“Well, long story short: I am in love,” Subin whispered, one palm cupping the side of his face and his eyes often looked at the locked door of his room, fearing someone would burst in at any moment.
His bright eyes found the camera again and he smiled, “I asked them out and they said yes.” Happiness was apparent on his face. “It’s a top-secret for now. Maybe we all can meet someday.”
“Sure!” Zeng smiled back, “You can come home whenever you want and congratulations. I am happy for you!”
“Gamsahamnida!” Subin did a heart sign with his fingers. “At least somebody is happy for me,” he jabbed, looking at Yul from the corner of his eyes.
Yul rolled his eyes, “Congratulations! Happy now?”
“Very very,” Subin grinned. “Anyways, I am sending tickets for my concert to you both. It’s in the nearby district. Try to come if you can. I will drop by if possible.”
The couple agreed and bid him goodbye after a while.
Yul glanced at Zeng when the call ended, the man looked back at him. Zeng raised an eyebrow and a second later Yul pounced on him, leaving kisses all over his face while Zeng could not do anything but giggle.
Everything seemed to be falling back into place. It was unbelievable for both Zeng and Yul. It felt like a dream and they were afraid that when they would wake up, it would all disappear. But they assured each other that it was reality and they were really together.
Zeng never stopped worrying about Yul. He would nag at him at times but Yul would understand him.
The other times, Yul would feel lonely due to their reduced time together. He would complain to Zeng and they might have a few small fights. But Zeng would understand him.
……..
One day after dinner, Yul asked Zeng as they were getting ready to sleep, “When is your Bond getting expired with the City Hospital?”
“Next year, in August. Why?” Zeng asked nonchalantly as he hung their clothes in the closet.
Yul sat up on the bed and asked Zeng to come over. Zeng wordlessly walked up to him and sat on his lap, his legs on either side his boyfriend, “So…,” Zeng trailed curiously.
Yul wrapped his arms around Zeng and said as he looked up at him, “I have been saving up for a house. Let’s buy a nice house when you transfer.”
Zeng was surprised by the sudden revelation, “Are you sure about this? You know how high the rates are in this province. I don’t know if our savings are sufficient.”
“Don’t worry about that, Zeng ge,” Yul cut him off, “I have saved up enough. Let’s buy a house near your assigned Hospital in the future. We can also adopt some animals then. A cat and a dog would be fine. We will also adopt children if the law permits us by then.”
Zeng smiled, he liked the idea, “Since when have you been planning all this, huh?”
Yul replied with a dreamy smile, “Ever since I first saw you.”
Zeng would have dismissed it as a joke but Yul was sincere, he could tell it from the younger one’s eyes.
“But I started saving up from my first salary,” Yul added, earning a cute gasp from Zeng. Whenever Zeng thought that this was the limit to Yul’s love, the man would surprise him with something else and that would leave him baffled. Yul’s love for him was infinite, Zeng could tell by now.
“Yul…” A gentle smile lingered on his lips, “Did I ever tell you how much I love you?”
Yul pulled him close and kissed him on the lips, “You don’t need to tell me. I can see it in your eyes.”
The two shared a look of pure love and bliss. This was the feeling with which they can survive all obstacles.
Zeng smiled, “We should sleep now. We both have duties tomorrow morning.”
“Yeah,” Yul held him and Zeng snuggled closer for warmth. He found that it greatly reduced his nightmares and led him to a relaxing slumber.
And the doctor-police couple went to peaceful sleep in each other’s embrace.
The next morning, Zeng and Yul had a quick breakfast and went to their respective destinations; one to the Hospital and the other to the Police Station.
During Zeng’s lunch break, he received a message from Yul,
“We got a lead on the previous case.
My team will be going on a raid now.”
Zeng sighed with great efforts, his fingers trembled as he typed back,
“Make sure to come back for dinner.”
He didn’t wait for the reply as he knew it would not be coming. He put his phone on his chest; his heart beating fast.
He didn’t get much time as an emergency was announced and he had to set up for a surgery within the next fifteen minutes. His job was calling for him so he made a run to the Emergency Ward, hoping that today he wouldn’t get any case of a particular person.
The day went by and he was anxious throughout. Thankfully, he didn’t get any case that he had been fearing.
His phone beeped before the next surgery. It was a text from Yul.
Relieved, he smiled at the phone gleefully and even kissed the name of the message’s owner when nobody was watching.
Placing his phone in the locker, he confidently walked to the operation room for the next surgery.
The message read,
“Alright. Let’s have dinner together.
P.S. : I love you, Zeng ge.”
