Young Master in the Apocalypse - Chapter 102
There was a great deal of smoke coming out of the workshop, and the group could feel the intense heat radiating from its direction even in the midst of the cold winter.
The current situation looked extremely tense. It was as if the building was painted with the word “danger” all over it.
It would be foolish for anyone to enter the workshop at its current state, unless they were purposefully trying to kill themselves.
“We must save Jessie,” said Bugs as he ran towards the building.
It didn’t take long for the man to reach the workshop’s door. But when he opened the door, a burst of high-temperature heat immediately came charging at him, forcing him to take a few steps back.
“Roman! Where is Roman!? He can help Jessie!”
“We can’t call him! The gate is also in danger!” said Mayor Walsh, who was also staring at the building anxiously.
Wade came to Viktor, half-crying. He believed that she was probably still waiting for him, and told Viktor that Jessie really did need his help with the reactor.
“It’s much to ask, I know… but please, can you help?” Wade asked Viktor, desperation apparent in his tone.
Viktor once again caught in a dilemma. Even without his metal suit, his 47 points of endurance was higher than everyone else here. At glance, there was no better candidate than him.
In fact, considering all likelihood, he was probably the only one available who could actually reach the girl and take her out of the danger.
However, the situation at the time being was very dangerous.
What if the reactor suddenly blew up right when he was still inside the building?
Even three digits of endurance would not be enough to save Viktor if he found himself in that kind of situation.
“Blyat!”
In frustration, he quickly asked the Djinn as to whether or not the girl was still alive, and the confirmation he gave only made his dilemma grow worse. As if that wasn’t enough, the Djinn added another information.
<Not for long though>
Wade looked at him expectantly as Viktor carefully calculated his chances. Up to this point, the only thing the man could do was beg for Viktor’s help to rescue Jessie from the burning building. In the end, in response to Wade’s pleading eyes, Viktor shook his head and said, “No! No! No way”
He decided to walk away.
However, instead of walking away from the building, Viktor walked towards the building instead.
He might have been insane for putting himself in such a risky situation once again.
“Fu*k, she better be worth it!”
Viktor rushed into the building, his face flushed with worry, yet he showed not the slightest sign of hesitation as his figure shot across the building. The high temperature filled the air around the building, and the closer he was to the center, the more intense the heat became. Because of this, Viktor was forced to use his [Metal Fusion] before he charged into the room.
The place was completely filled with smoke and the main reactor had begun to glow orange as if it was about to explode. Anyone who saw this situation would undoubtedly run away in order to rescue themselves, but to his surprise, Viktor saw that the girl was still standing near the reactor.
How could she possibly stand the heat!?
Viktor was completely out of his mind when he saw the girl who didn’t even take a single step back from the reactor. Despite the fact that the heat was unbearable, she persisted on staying there to figure out how to fix the main reactor.
Realizing that someone was approaching her, Jessie turned to see who was coming. She was stunned when she looked at him with the metal suit.
“Who… what are you!?”
“Jessie, it’s me, Viktor! I am gonna take you out now!” Viktor rushed over to her and told her that they needed to leave the building as quickly as they possibly could before something worse happened.
Jessie was stunned for a single second and then suddenly said, “No!! No, we must save the reactor first!”
The girl did not even move a bit to leave the reactor. It was obvious that she refused to leave this place until the problem was resolved.
“No, it’s too dangerous!” Viktor exclaimed, grabbing her shoulder.
Jessie however said something that surprised him.
“We must save it or the whole town will be in danger. Please help me!”
It could be a huge explosion, radiation or even the attack on the gate. All of these things could be prevented and the whole town would be saved if they manage to fix this problem. But if they didn’t, an even more disastrous disaster would strike.
Realizing this, Viktor finally gritted his teeth. “Ugh, what do you need? How can I help?”
“I know that you can do metal manipulation spells. Can you do metal hardening spell!?”
“What the hell is that!?”
“Oh no!. you can’t?! I really need you to make the reactor container stronger just for a while.”
Viktor could not understand some of the words she said. Metal manipulation? Metal hardening? However, he still quickly dashed toward the reactor and put his hand on them.
Even though it was melting hot, Viktor only felt a warm sensation as the metal suit on his palm helped him to resist the heat.
Then without further ado, Viktor used [Metal Tempering].
In a second, the metal strength started to increase to its maximum potential. It seemed that his [Metal Tempering] spell had been effectively cast on the metal.
“You did it! Now it’s my turn,” said Jessie excitedly. However, the girl currently looked so pale that Viktor feared she would faint at any moment.
“Hold on..” Jessie said before she suddenly took out some kind of a serum containing a green liquid and injected it into her arm.
“Jessie… what.. are you..?”
The girl was trembling for a while before the pale color on her face suddenly disappeared as if it didn’t exist in the first place. Viktor could even see her eyes turn glowing green before Jessie suddenly started to chant a few words and write multiple shining symbols on the reactor with her finger.
[Heat Protection]
In an instant, the whole instrument turned glowing and the reactor that had been on the verge of exploding gradually cooled down.
The two of them nervously watched the reactor making several noises before it once again turned into a smooth sound. After seeing that the reactor seemed to be under control again, Jessie finally relaxed and heaved a sigh of relief.
“You can release your spell now,” she added.
Viktor still had no idea what she meant by releasing the spell, but he let go of his arm anyway.
Jessie looked at him from head to toe and said,
“You look really cool, Viktor. Thank you for saving the village and saving me.. again.”
A split second later, the girl suddenly panicked and said that she really needed to quickly fix the barrier or else the town would be in danger.
“I should be able to fix it in 10 minutes. Please tell that to the people at the gate.” She didn’t even wait for Viktor’s response before she darted away, leaving Viktor staring dumbfoundedly at her disappearing back.
As soon as he had confirmed that everything inside the workshop was in order, Viktor hurriedly exited through the back door so that he would not be noticed, and in such a hurry, he took advantage of his high agility to go straight to the gate.
When he reached the place, however, it was too late. To his surprise, it had already been run over.
The main gate had already been destroyed, and dozens of hellhounds had entered the gates.. The situation was a complete, total chaos.
