Young Master in the Apocalypse - Chapter 67
Splatt!!
The furry critter’s blood splattered to the ground.
Viktor’s body began to feel slightly heavy as he ran while panting. His speed had also declined quite a bit from the pain and fatigue, but he kept running.
It had been more than an hour of constant running and fighting, dodging and slashing, yet there were still so many of them.
He had never needed to work this hard before.
Right now, it was not just his axe that was dripping with blood, but his whole body. He could not even tell how much of the blood was from his wounds and how much was from these creatures.
Splat!!
After Viktor cut another one of those furry creatures into two, another notification came into his mind.
[Spirit force increased by one point.]
The notification was certainly good news, but he currently did not have the energy to rejoice or even think about it. If he were to lose focus, these abyss creatures would tear him apart.
After fighting against them for a while, Viktor started to get used to them. Both of these abyss creatures might have crazy speed, but just like the mutated bees he previously encountered, the critters’ furry body and the hellhounds’ four legs made them good at chasing targets in front of them, but not so much when it came to maneuvering.
Because of that, he could still survive using his constant tactic of jumping from house to house, ontop or inside.
Using this tactic, he even managed to kill about a hundred critters and four hellhounds in the last one hour.
[Spirit Force – 63]
Viktor was taken aback when he saw the number. In total, he already got more than 10 points of spirit force in the last hour. This indeed made him feel better about his hard work tonight, but unfortunately, his arms and legs were beginning to feel a little numb.
Quite unfortunate, but it appears that 30 points of endurance could only lead him this far.
At this moment, the thought of taking a break filled his mind. Even just a minute or two would be great, he just needed a little break.
After running around the town almost non-stop this past hour, Viktor finally decided on a crazy plan. He did not know if it would work or not, but at this point, he was willing to try any plan as long as it meant he could finally get a little rest from this torturous process.
If he were to keep this up, he would eventually pass out from exhaustion and die by these monsters’ claws.
Viktor quickly used the last of his stamina to reach a particular target.
A run down bus.
He rushed and jumped into its front window, and as soon as he stepped onto the floor inside, Viktor touched the metal and quickly used [Metal-bending].
He transformed the 10-meter bus into a thick block of metal with him inside.
A few critters were rushing toward him while he was using [Metal-bending], causing them to be trapped in between the metal. As the critters’ bodies got squashed, more blood spilled all over him.
“Ugh!” Viktor could not help but retch. The thick smell of blood was already making him feel a bit nauseous, and this surprising sight just made it worse.
Even so, he did not dare stop and waste time. Although this metal block was thick, he knew that it would not be enough to stop the hellhounds entirely.
At most, it would give Viktor the few minutes of break he desires
Viktor touched the metal again and started casting [Metal-tempering].
During the process, the metal box was hit and smashed from all sides numerous times. The sounds of those monsters banging on the metal box became louder and louder, but Viktor still focused on his spell.
[You have successfully tempered tier 0 material with outstanding quality.]
Once again, he felt disappointed for not being able to get the excellent quality, but his thoughts did not linger on it for long at all. Instead, Viktor decided to use every second he could to take a breather and regain his strength.
Bang! Bang!
Once again, this situation taught him a lesson for underestimating the apocalypse.
This abyssal creature must be the one Andrei and his team were so scared of when night fell. Not only that, but the Djinn also warned him about them before.
Remembering those moments, Viktor suddenly thought of the sounds they made when they passed through at night.
“…They’re completely different. Those creatures that night made flapping sounds,” Viktor muttered in thought.
<You are correct, it was a different kind of creature. I must inform—>
Viktor interrupted.
“Shut up, Djinn! I am still mad at you!”
<Kekeke. Don’t be mad, I promise I will help you when you reach a higher realm.>
“Huh! I’ll make sure you keep that promise!”
Still, despite Viktor’s clearly annoyed tone, he did not move from his position, conserving as much energy as he could to prepare himself for the next round.
Bam! Bam!
Viktor could feel the metal box that was shielding him from the monsters outside start to crack. It seems that his resting time was over.
Once again, he touched the metal surrounding him and cast [Metal-bending]. The box’s outer layer, which was originally flat and had become dented from the constant banging from outside, was suddenly expanded and turned into a wall covered in spikes. Those spikes were enough to kill a few more critters that push each other into the box.
Until finally one of the hellhounds smash and broke it apart just after Viktor jumped out of it holding his tier 2 axe.
“Now who wanted to join round two!”
However, at this moment, Viktor heard the flapping sounds that he previously thought of. He quickly looked for the source of those sounds, and with his enhanced senses, he soon found it.
As he looked toward the direction of the flapping sounds’ source, several large figures flying in the night sky immediately greeted his sight. Viktor expected the creatures that made those flapping noises to be mutated birds of some sort, but the figures in the sky were nothing like he expected.
“Djinn, what the f**k is that!?”
Instead of birds, the figures of those creatures in the sky were an ugly-looking humanoids with wings that resembled a demon.
A moment after Viktor finished his words, a piece of information quickly came to his mind.
[Gargoyles – level 70]
[Abyss creature – Stage 3]
[Battle Power – 60]
“…You’re f**king kidding me, right…?”
Not only were they extremely strong and had wings, but they were even flying in a group!
‘How the hell am I supposed to survive against those things!?’
