Young Miss Strike Back! - Chapter 132
Before Lin Xiaoxiao realized it, bright lights filled her eyes and the familiar smell of medicine filled her nose. She could tell she was in a hospital. She slowly opened her eyes allowing them to adjust to the bright lights of the room. “Xiaoxiao!” A voice next to her sounded out. Lin Xiaoxiao turned her head to see the worried face of Shen Xing.
“What happened?” Lin Xiaoxiao asked as she tried to sit up.
“Don’t get up just stay laying down. The doctor said you need to get some rest for now. About what happened… ” Shen Xing face turned grim. He was not sure how to break the news to her. “Xiaoxiao I think you should know that Mom is in surgery at this time.”
Lin Xiaoxiao’s head felt like it was spinning. Images of what happened earlier flashed in her mind. Lin Xiaoxiao quickly tried to get up but was forced to lay back down by Shen Xing. “Xing let me up now! I have to go see her!” Lin Xiaoxiao shouted.
“Xiaoxiao you need to rest! The shock you had earlier was very dangerous not only for you and for the babies as well! Plus you can’t just go barging into the operating room!” Shen Xing shouted back.
Shen Xing’s words calmed Lin Xiaoxiao a little. Taking a deep breath she asked: “So what is going on with my mother? Why is she in surgery?”
“The man who stabbed her used a jagged knife. Going in is clean but coming out is not. When he pulled the knife out it ripped a large hole in everything it passed through. This kind of knife is very ruthless. Mom had already lost too much blood when the ambulance finally arrived.” Shen Xing’s expression was grave as he explained what had happened.
“Then what are the chances for her to survive?” Lin Xiaoxiao was shaking. Tears started to roll down her cheeks. That man was after her and in order to protect her, her mother threw herself in harm’s way. Now she was on the verge of death!
“I don’t know. It depends on how much blood she lost. Even with a blood transfusion, it is probably a slim chance…” Shen Xing’s hands started shaking. “She was pronounced dead on arrival. But they were able to bring her back once.”
Lin Xiaoxiao burst into tears. Shen Xing quickly held on to her. Today was supposed to be a happy occasion. But turned into a mess. But now Lin Xiaoxiao was stuck worrying about her mother hoping she will be fine. “Xing… I want you to investigate who hired that man… Whoever it was I want them to feel pain a hundred times worse than what my mother has felt! If my mother does not make it through this I will personally kill the one behind it and every one of their family members to make up for her death!”
Shen Xing sighed. He knew Lin Xiaoxiao was not thinking right. He could only passively agree. He already had his people looking into who was the mastermind behind that man. He had some ideas of who it was but he had to be sure first. “Don’t worry Xiaoxiao I have people looking into it. Once I find out who it is I will personally drag that person in front of you to do as you please.”
Lin Xiaoxiao nodded as her tears continued to flow. After a while, she cried herself to sleep in Shen Xing’s arms.
Footsteps were heard as a light knock was heard coming from the VIP room door. “Come in…”
The door opened and Little Bo walked in with Minmin. Both girls had red puffy eyes, you could tell at a glance that they had recently been crying. “How is Lily?” Little Bo asked quietly, seeing the sleeping Lin Xiaoxiao in Shen Xing’s arms.
“Cried herself to sleep.” Shen Xing smiled bitterly.
“Any word on aunty?”
“Not yet. She is still in surgery.” Shen Xing said as his gaze fell on to Minmin. “Little Min come squeeze in with your sister on the other side. Times like this are when families should support each other.”
Minmin nodded and trotted over to the other side of the bed before climbing under the covers. The bed was actually quite big and could fit three people easily and still have plenty of room. Minmin snuggled her self up to Lin Xiaoxiao’s side as she quietly started to sob. Hearing the faint sobs from Minmin caused Shen Xing’s heart to sink. This was a hard test for his new family. All they could do was hope that everything turns out okay.
Hearing Minmin’s sobs, Little Bo also crawled under the blankets and tried her best to calm Minmin down. Not knowing what was to come was one of the hardest things to deal with. After a while, Minmin finally cried herself to sleep. Little Bo and Shen Xing where the only ones awake still as they waited for the doctors to give them news on what was going on.
Hours passed and Shen Li had stopped in a few times to help out and check on Little Bo. Lin Xiaoxiao had woken up a few times but soon fell back asleep. Her mental exhaustion was at its peak causing her to be overly tired. It was not until almost nine hours later that the doctor in charge came into the room. The doctor’s expression was very serious which caused Shen Xing’s heart to sink. He had a bad feeling that whatever the doctor said was not going to be good. Seeing the doctor come in with such an expression on his face caused Minmin to instantly worry as she clung on to Little Bo. Shen Xing did not wake Lin Xiaoxiao up he was worried that it would be too much for her to handle at this time.
“Mr. Shen. May I talk to you alone for a minute…”
