[Turn 5 – Shark LP:1000 Hand:0, Kite LP:3700 Hand:1]

Things were not looking good for Shark, although he had his ace monster Number 32: Shark Drake on the field along with the Seal of Orichalcos, he was in trouble as he faced down not only a boosted Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon with 4500 ATK, but Kites new Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon and also a Starliege Photon Blast Dragon, whose special ability protected monster on Kite field with 2000 or more ATK.

He also had to deal with the throbbing pain in his head and ċhėst.

“I draw, then I play my <Pot of Greed> to draw two more cards.”

Looking at his cards Shark knew that they would be useful, but first…

“It’s time for a feeding frenzy, I attack your Starleige with Number 32!”

Shark had to get rid of that annoying protection ability.

“Not so fast! I activate my facedown <Eternal Galaxy> which allows me to use my rank 4 Starliege Photon Blast Dragon to Xyz summon rank 8 <Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon>!”

Kites Starliege plunged into a golden spiral and avoided Shark Drake’s charge.

[Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon – Rank 8 ATK:4000/3500 OU:3]

Shark recognised that card as the same one Dextra had used during their duel. From the golden spiral of light Kites third Galaxy-Eyes emerged, its thick purple armour was so dark that it was almost black in contract to its brilliant blue white wings of energy.

“Tch, in that case I attack your Cipher Dragon, go Deep Sea Destruction!”

Either way at least that Starleige was gone, but now he might have a bigger problem to deal with. Shark Drake blasted Kites Cipher dragon to pieces and took another bite from Kites life points.

[N32 ATK:3300 > GECD ATK:3000 – Kite LP > 3400]

“I set two cards face down and end my turn”

[Turn 6 – Kite LP:3400 Hand:1, Shark LP:1000 Hand:0]

“Draw. I activate my Full Armor Photon Dragons effect, once per turn I can detach an Overlay unit to destroy one face up card on the field, so say goodbye to your Number.”

[Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon – OU 3 > 2]

Absorbing one of its Overlay Units Kites dragon blasted out a bean of destructive power at Shark Drake and destroyed it in a massive explosion.

*Boom*

“But not for long, I activate <Torrential Reborn>, this trap revives my Number in defence and deals 500 damage to you.” Shark declared.

[Kite LP > 2900]

“I attack your Shark Drake with my Galaxy-Eyes and activate its special ability to banish both monsters.”

Since a Number could only be destroyed by a Number and Shark Drake was in defence, Kite would just use his Photon Dragons ability to clear the way for his Full Amor to have a direct attack. Both monsters once more vanished into particles of light.

“Now I attack with my Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon, Photon Stream of Destruction!”

As Kites dragon lifted its head back and charged its attack, Shark cried out.

“I activate my face down, the quickplay spell <Xyz Encore>, with this I return your dragon back to the extra deck, then I special summon its Overlay Units that were monsters back to the field in defence mode. However they do lose 1 level.”

Kites Dragon transformed into a stream of light and flew back into Kites deck as its Overlay Units dropped to the field and became monster once again.

[Photon Crusher – Lv4 > 3 ATK:2000/0, Photon Vanisher – Lv4 > 3 ATK:2000/DEF:0]

If Kite had any idea this would happen then he would have been more careful with what Overlay Unit he had used to activate his dragons effect before. Still…

“Since Photon Vanisher was special summoned I can add another Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to my hand. And since I can’t attack anymore I end the battle phase and both our monster return to the field.”

“But your dragon loses the attack boost it previously gained.” Shark replied.

He was right, since Shark Drake had no Overlay units when it was banished this time, that meant when Galaxy-Eyes returned to the field it would only have its original 3000 ATK points.

[Number 32: Shark Drake – Rank 4 ATK:3300/DEF:2100 OU:0, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon – Lv8 ATK:3000/DEF:2500]

“I now sacrifice my Photon Vanisher and Photon Crusher to special summon my second <Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon>. Your move Shark.”

[Turn 7 – Shark LP:1000 Hand:0, Kite LP:2900 Hand:2]

“I dra… Arrgh!”

Suddenly Shark felt like his heart was going to burst and his vision went black as he staggered and then collapsed to the floor, his hands griping his ċhėst.

“Shark!” Wyvern cried out.

“Is it power you seek?”

A voice echoed in the darkness.

Where am I? What happened? Is that a voice?

Shark was filled with questions as he tried to open his eyes, his thoughts slow and groggy but oddly clearer than they had been for sometime. The last thing he remembered was that terrible pain in his ċhėst and in his head.

“Is It power you seek?” the ancient sounding voice asked again.

As Shark opened his eyes, he found himself in front of a strange demonic door bound by thick black chains. Its relief was a monstrous face with four eyes that glowed a bright crimson and at the centre of the door was a large stylized blue fleur-de-lis with a red diamond gem at its centre.

Were these the Gates of Hell? Had he had a heart attack, a cerebral haemorrhage or something and died? If so then his recent action deserved it. But then what was this talk of power? A part of him instinctually felt that he was still alive, that this place was in some way real.

“If it is power you seek then open the door and claim that which you dėsɨrė.”

As Shark stood up the shadow image of Number 32 materialised behind him, its ominous aura spilling over to engulf Shark in its purple glow. Its voice echoing in Sharks head.

“Do it Shark, take the power you need.” Shark Drake eagerly encouraged.

“Shut up! Get out of my head!” Shark cried.

“Do not deny your dėsɨrės Shark, you know this is what you want… just give in to me…let me help you…”

“No! I… I won’t be controlled!!” Shark tried to reject the Number one more time.

“Ha ha ha, isn’t it a little late to say something like that…” The Number mocked as the Seal of Orichalcos appeared beneath Sharks feet and its Mark on his head.

“Aarrgggh!!”

Sharks body felt like it was on fire as the Seals power tried to course though him, stronger and more violently than ever before.

“Why did you do all of this Shark? Was it not for your revenge? For your sister? But look, you are still too weak, you lack the power you need. If you can’t defeat Kite how can you hope to defeat his father. You are weak.”

“Shut UP!!” Shark tried to block them out, the voice of the Numbers and the strength of the Seal both. Slivers of regret stabbed into him. He was weak. He had been weak ever since he had accepted the dark power of these cards. He was still so weak.

“You plunged yourself into a dark abyss from which you can never return for the chance of power. Why hesitate now when true power is within your grasp-”

“IF IT IS POWER YOU SEEK, THEN IT SHALL BE YOURS.”

“I… I want the power…” Shark whispered. Shark Drake was right, he had come too far to turn back now. And if he failed then all his sacrifice would be for nothing.

“Then open the Door and claim the power that is your right… if you can.” The door softly replied.

Shark was drawn to the red crystal at the centre of the door, its glow drew him in like a moth to the flame. He reached out his hand and touched it, only for the symbol and crystal to shatter into fragments revealing a round hole a bit bigger than his fist surrounded by teeth like spikes.

“Open the sealed door and claim that which those that came before you could not.”

“How?” Shark asked.

“Reach in and the way will be opened-”

Shark reached into the hole with his arm as the door spoke, going in all the way to his elbow.

“-with blood.”

The teeth around the hole suddenly closed in and pierced deep into Sharks arm.

“Arrgh!!!” Shark cried out.

As his blood flowed through the door it began to rumble and shake, it strained itself against the chains that bound it. As more blood flowed the weaker Shark became but the stronger the motion of the door, till finally they broke, shattered into pieces. Shark was flung away with the doors opening, landing in a heap on the floor. And from the door came a flood of dark chaotic energy, like a living tide it swept towards Shark and shallowed him.

As Shark felt himself being drowned as a new power flooded through him like a roaring river and he did not hear the doors final whispered words before he disappeared from this space.

“Hail, to the Emperor…”

“Shark!” Wyvern cried.

When he collapsed the Black General thought is he dead? Had the pressure of using the Numbers with the Seal killed him? What would she tell her King? No he had to be saved! She would-!

Sharks body was suddenly engulfed by a blinding purple pillar of light, it rose up beneath Shark and smashed through the ceiling, soaring into the night sky for but a few seconds before it vanished like a dream.

Shark was standing once more. The pain he felt before was gone and he felt more alive than he ever had. He felt powerful, a power that came from himself instead of external sources like the Number cards or the Seal of Orichalcos.

With this power… He would Win!

[Turn 7 – Shark LP:1000 Hand:0, Kite LP:2900 Hand:2]

“I draw! Get ready for a world of pain Kite because you will never be leaving, but don’t worry I’ll send your father to join you soon.”

“You’re all bark, but I have yet to see you bite.” Replied Kite, he didn’t know just what had happened with the lightshow, but it was too late to change the outcome now. Shark and New Order would all pay for what they did to Dextra.

“Aaahhhh!”

With a load cry Shark released his new power. A dark purplish crimson aura began to seep out of Shark. It wrapped itself around his Number and even flowed into the Seal of Orichalcos turning its bright green light a sinister purple.

“What?!” Wyvern couldn’t believe her eyes. Just what kind of power could Shark have that could influence even the Great Seal?!

“Now Go! Behold the power of Chaos Xyz Evolution! With Shark Drake I now rebuild the Overlay Network! Rise from the depths, the reborn great white hunter and show your true form, I Xyz Summon Chaos Number 32: Shark Drake Veiss!”

[Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss – Rank 4 ATK:2800 > 3300/DEF:2800 OU:1]

Sharks Number returned from the Overlay Network in its new Chaos form, its pure white skinned was stained by the purple light of the Seal. Kite and Wyvern were shock, Shark could change his Number card! How had he done it?

“Next I play the spell <Forbidden Chalice> and I’m using it on your first Galaxy-Eyes. Thanks to my spell your dragon gains 400ATK but it also loses all its abilities till the end of the turn.”

[Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon – ATK:3000 > 3400]

“Now I use my Chaos Numbers special ability! Since my life points are only 1000, by using one Overlay Unit and banishing my Saber Shark from the grave I can reduce the ATK and DEF of one of your monsters to 0 till the end of the turn. And my target is your first Galaxy-Eyes.”

[Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss – OU: 1 > 0]

[Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon – ATK:3400/DEF:2500 > ATK:0/DEF:0]

Now Kites monster was powerless. Kite had no facedown cards to activate and now without any attack points or special abilities to defend itself, his Galaxy-Eyes was shark food.

“Now go Chaos Number 32 and end this duel! Chaos Stream!”

[CN32 ATK:3300 > GEPD ATK:0]

Shark Drake Veiss blasted out a stream of purple energy that split into dozens of smaller streams that surrounded and blasted Kites Dragon from every direction, destroying it before zeroing in on Kite himself.

It looked like Shark was about to win, however…

“Nice try, but I activated the effect of the <Kuriphoton> in my hand. By sending this card to the grave and paying 2000 Life points I take no damage this turn.”

[Kite LP > 900]

The swarming beams of energy were blocked by a curtain of photon energy as Kuriphoton appeared behind Kites shoulder.

“Kuri, Kuri!” Kites monster gleefully cheered before vanishing.

Impossible! Shark thought. How could Kite have survived that?! He should have been crushed and his soul taken by the Seal. With all this new power, how could this be happening?!

“I… end my turn…”

Shark knew that the only card Kite had in his hand at the moment was the Photon Caesar, a level 8 monster Kite had revealed at the start of the duel, so long as Kite didn’t draw another monster he should be able to ride out the next turn. It all came down to this draw.

[Turn 8 – Kite LP:900 Hand:1, Shark LP:1000 Hand:0]

“I draw.” Kite declared.

Perfect, with this card Kite knew he could end this duel.

“You blew your chance Shark, now I’m going to finish it, I play <Galaxy Expedition>, thanks to the presence of my Galaxy-Eyes this spell allows me to summon my level 8 <Galaxy Tyranno> from my deck in defence mode. Next I overlay my Galaxy Tyranno and Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to Xyz summon another <Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon>!”

[Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon – Rank 8 ATK:3000/2500 OU:2]

A second copy of Kites new monster took to the field, undaunted by Sharks Chaos Number.

“Your Number is stronger than my dragon, but that won’t help when I use my dragons special ability, Cipher Subjection! You remember this one don’t you? I take control of your Chaos Number which then becomes a copy of my dragon, leaving you wide open for a direct attack!”

[Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss > Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon* – Rank 8 ATK:3000/2500]

Shark Drake Viess was helplessly pulled over to Kites field by the rainbow light of his dragons wings as it transformed into Cipher Dragons twin, leaving Shark without any monsters, without any traps, and with nothing in his hand, without any hope.

“No!! I’m the one with the power! I’m the one that meant to win!” Shark couldn’t accept this, he had the Numbers, he had the Seal and he even had the power of Chaos. How could he not win!

“Finish this Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon! Go Cipher Stream of Destruction!”

*BANG*

[GECD ATK:3000 – Shark LP > 0]

Shark fell to his knees, the Seal of Orichalcos returned to its normal green colour and began to close in around him. Hungry for the losers soul.
