“Powerhold! Attack Yuma’s Gogogo Golem with Power Cannon!”

Bronks giant mechanical monster took aim with its mighty cannon, arcs of emerald energy built up around its opening as it built up its power and fired at Yuma’s golden form golem. The mighty beam crashed against Yuma’s monster like a raging river and obliterated it from the field.

[PHMB ATK:4100 > GGGF ATK:2100 – Yuma LP > 2000]

Unfortunately, while Yuma’s Gogogo Golem – Golden Form halved any battle damage his opponent received the same could not be said about the reverse. Yuma was knocked down by the blast, landing only an inch or two away from the edge of the Seal. Getting up, a corner of his shirt brushed against the Seal and ignited into flame.

“Yikes! That was close.” He exclaimed as he smacked the small flame out before it could do any real damage, glad that he hadn’t actually touched the Seal himself.

But now he was out of monsters and Bronk still had his Orichalcos boosted Green Gadget and Yellow Gadget left to attack.

“Stop it Bronk!”, “Don’t do it!” came the cries from their friends on the side line. But to the current Bronk these words were just meaningless.

“Green Gadget, attack Yuma directly!”

“I activate my face down <Pinpoint Guard> this trap revives my original Gogogo Golem in defence mode and it cannot be destroyed in battle this turn.”

The charging Gadget was brought to an abrupt halt by the appearance of Yuma’s monster.

“Keep stalling Yuma, it won’t change your fate, I end my turn.”

[Turn 4 – Yuma LP:2000 Hand 3, Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2]

Yuma was frustrated at his helplessness at the moment. New Order had turned his best friend against him, Astral had been knocked out by the power unleashed by the Seal, they were hopelessly lost somewhere that Drake had almost no chance of find them and he was in a duel where the loser forfeited his soul.

What was he going to do?!

Yuma checked his extra deck. It was practically empty.

Without Astral, Yuma couldn’t use the Number cards they had collected, he couldn’t use Utopia…and without them did he even have a chance to deal with the Seal? What could he do? No matter what, one thing was sure. He wasn’t going to give up on his friend!

Golden light began to shine from the middle of his extra deck with a familiar power. Picking out the card Yuma was shocked to see S39: Utopia Prime, the card he had created through Shining evolution. But why was it still in his Extra deck?

Suddenly the card erupted with power and a golden beam blasted out through the Seal and towards the unconscious Astral. From his body a single white shining card flew back along the golden beam and into Yuma’s hand before revealing itself.

The true, one and only, Number 39: Utopia!

“Thanks Astral.”

Whatever the reason, he chose to believe it was a helping hand from his friend. The two of them had been through so much, overcome so many challenges. And this was the card that symbolised their bond. It had never let them down before and Yuma refused to believe it would fail now.

“Get ready Bronk, I draw! Next I summon <Ganbara Knight>”

[Ganbara Knight – Lv4 ATK:0/DEF:1800]

“With this card and my Gogogo Golem I now build the Overlay Network! I Overlay my two level 4 monster to Xyz summon, <Number 39: Utopia>! In defence mode.”

Not only did Utopia have the ability to negate attacks, but as a Number only another Number could destroy it in battle. Even though Bronk may have the strongest monster, so long as he had Utopia he had hope.

“Come on Bronk, doesn’t this bring back any memories? This isn’t you! Don’t you remember the time I gave you Utopia and you saved me and Astral from Number 96? Whatever they did to you I know you can fight it!”

“Fight it? Why would I fight this? I have never felt this powerful. You think having a Number makes you powerful? I will show that in front of the power of the Great Seal your precious Utopia is nothing! So just Duel!” Bronk snapped.

“…I set one card face down and end my turn.”

[Turn 5 – Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2, Yuma LP:2000 Hand 2]

“Draw.”

Although Bronk put on an act of distain towards Utopia, he was secretly shocked. As was the watching Proteus. They had seen how Utopia had managed to breach the barrier of the Seal just now to reach Yuma’s side. Such a thing should not be possible. But although Yuma had managed to retrieve his favourite Number it would not matter.

Bronk’s deck had been built to deal even with the power of the Numbers.

“I move Yellow Gadget to the front row and switch it to defence, then set a card face down and end my turn.”

“I draw! Then I will draw 2 more thanks to my <Pot of Greed>. Next I will discard my <XYZ Agent> from my hand to activate the spell <Onomatopaira>. This spell lets me add <Gagaga Magician> and <Gogogo Giant> to my hand.”

“If you won’t listen to my words, then I can only continue to knock some sense into you.” Yuma declared.

“Not with my Powerhold on the field you won’t!”

“Then I just need to scrap your walking junk pile, won’t I! First I summon my Gagaga Magician to the field.”

Yuma’s favourite magician took centre stage, its black coat and iron chains swaying to its movements.

“Next is the spell <Gagaga Bolt>, since I control a Gagaga monster I can destroy a card on your side of the field, so I destroy your Powerhold!”

Lifting a pointed finger to the sky, black thunderclouds gather above Yuma’s Gagaga Magician. Sweeping its hand down a bolt of lighting followed its direction and blasted into Bronks mechanical menace, reducing it to scrap metal.

“Since Powerhold was a machine monster, destroying it adds two more junk counters to my Machine Assembly Line.” Bronk said as his machines moved to consume the remaining junk heap.

“Now I switch my Utopia to attack position and attack your Yellow Gadget with Rising Sun Slash!”

Utopia launched itself at Bronk’s toy like monster, and slashed down with its brilliant blade. Yuma hoped this attack be able to get through to his friend. But before it could finish its swing…

“I activate my trap <Fiendish Chain>, these chains will tie up your Utopia, preventing it from attacking and negating all its effects so long as it is on the field.”

Utopia was held helplessly in position, is blade mere inches from Bronk’s panic stricken Gadget, around it wrapped dark copper like chains, that at odd intervals burned with a pale blue flame. Tightening their grip, the chains hoisted Utopia from the steel girders and bound his arms to his sides.

“Then I will destroy your Yellow Gadget with Gagaga Magician!”

“I end my turn with a facedown.”

[Turn 7 – Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2, Yuma LP:2000 Hand:1]

“I draw. You should just give up Yuma, you have no hope of beating me. I have always been the better duellist, without Astral you don’t have a chance.” Bronk taunted.

“Your right, you were always the better duellist, no matter how many times I challenged you each day, you always beat me. But it was because we were friends that you never refused my challenge, that I wanted to improve and become a duel champion. Don’t you remember?”

“Enough! I play <Graceful Charity> to draw 3 and then discard 2. Then I summon <Silver Gadget> and with its effect I can also special summon a <Red Gadget> from my hand to the field. My Red Gadgets effect allows me to add another Yellow Gadget to my hand from my deck.”

With the power of the Seal and his Machine Assembly Line running through his monsters circuits, even Bronk’s weaker monsters would be transformed into powerhouses.

“Next I sacrifice my Machine Assembly Line, this lets me special summon a machine monster from the grave whose level is equal or less than the number of junk counters my spell card had, which was 4. So I summon my <Gold Gadget> back to the field and its effect lets me special summon another Yellow Gadget, whose effect then adds a Green Gadget to my hand. But without my Machine Assembly Line my monsters now lose their 200 ATK power boost.

The Gold General, Proteus, emotionlessly watch on. As the one who had built Bronk’s new deck he knew what was coming next now that Bronk had gathered so many Gadget monsters together. It seemed that Silvers plan would soon succeed after all.

“I will now create the Overlay Network, with these monsters I have gathered as an offering I now Xyz Summon <Metrohold the Moving City> to the field. This card can be Xyz summoned with 2 or more Lv4 Gadget monsters and I am using five!”

A mechanical titan slowly emerged from the black vortex, a being so massive it could crush Utopia within a single fist. A burning red power core blazed in the centre of its ċhėst as it lifted a massive metal hammer in its right hand. Around that hammer orbited its five Overlay Units.

“My Metrohold gains attack equal the number of its Overlay Units time 1000, and it also receives 500 ATK with the power of the Seal. This means it currently has 5500 ATK!”

[Metrohold the Moving City – ATK:? > 5500]

“5500 ATK?!?! That’s crazy!” screamed Caswell. He and the rest of Yuma’s friends despaired at the appearance of such a powerful monster.

“You wanted me to remember our past Yuma? Well I promise I’m going to remember this moment as I put an end to it. I attack Utopia with Metrohold, Titan Strike!”

*Wwwhhhizzzzzzzzzz*

Steam whittled out of multiple pipes and vents across Metroholds body as its great gears squealed to its movements as it lifted its hammer high over its head. At its apex of its swing the back of the hammer head erupted as rocket engines fired to launch the hammer downwards at an even faster crushing speed.

“I activate my facedown, <Dust tornado>, which allows me to destroy your Fiendish Chain” Yuma shouted as his trap card unleashed a violent whirlwind which cut through Bronk’s trap and freed his Utopia from its bindings.

“And thanks to that I can now activate Utopia’s Special ability. Go Light Wing Shield! My removing an Overlay unit (Gogogo Golem) I can negate your attack!”

[Number 39: Utopia – OU 2 > 1]

Utopia’s white wings stretched out overhead enlarging as they shone their golden light, Metrohold’s hammer came crashing down onto the glowing wings in a clash that sent shockwaves across the field. But Utopia remained standing tall and strong under the protection of its Light Wing Shield.

“I end my turn.”

[Turn 8 – Yuma LP:2000 Hand:1, Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2]

“I draw, I switch Utopia and Gagaga Magician to defence mode and end my turn.”

Yuma was flustered but there was nothing else to be done. He wished Astral would wake up as he could really use some help right now. How could he deal with a monster that had over 5000 attack points!

“Come on Astral, what would you do…?” he whispered.

[Turn 9 – Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2, Yuma LP:2000 Hand:2]

“Draw. I attack Gagaga magician with Metrohold.”

Bronk wasted no time with small talk and since he couldn’t Destroy Yuma’s Number he would just settle for wiping his other monster off the field instead.

*BOOM*

Metrohold’s great hammer came smashing down and flattened the magician like a swatted fly.

“Did you see that Yuma, this is real power, and by serving the Great Beast this is just the start of what I can achieve.”

“But what good is such power if you are alone, do you really think these people are your friends?! They are just using you! We’re your friends Bronk! Please listen to us!”

“Quiet! I summon <Green Gadget> to the back row and add a Red Gadget to my hand.”

[Green Gadget – Lv4 ATK:1400 > 1900/DEF:600]

“I set a face down and end my turn.”

[Turn 10 – Yuma LP:2000 Hand:2, Bronk LP:3150 Hand:2]

If Yuma didn’t do something soon, he knew that Bronk’s mechanical menace would be the end of him, but with over 5000 ATK what could he do? If only it didn’t have so many Overlay Units… Wait. Yuma suddenly realised that he did have a card in his deck that could take down Bronk’s monster. But could he draw it?

Yuma thought back to a time after his duel against Segnir, when he had asked Astral about the special draw he had pulled off then, the Shining Draw, and how he could use that kind of power again. What did Astral say again? Tap into your heart when you draw, believe in your cards and focus your will on what you need.

Yuma closed his eyes and focused. He could feel something… something warm and familiar. He knew what he needed and he knew that deck would not let him down!

“Go Shining Draw!” With a golden glow around his hand Yuma draw his card, leaving a golden arc of light in its path.

It worked!! Thanks Astral! Yuma thought.

“I now summon my <Gogogo Giant>, when my monster is summoned I can special summon <Gogogo Golem> from my grave in defence by switching my Giant into defence mode.”

Yuma block like giant looked like a child compare to Bronk’s Metrohold as it pulled its smaller sibling Gogogo Golem back from the grave. He might not have any more of his Numbers to call upon but he still had tricks he could play.

“With these two monsters I build the Overlay Network and Xyz summon <Gagaga Cowboy>”

[Gagaga Cowboy – Rank 4 ATK:1500/DEF:2400 OU:2]

“And the point of this is? You know that your monster has no hope of stopping my Titan right? And because it is on my front row you can’t attack my other monsters. Maybe you have decided to do the smart thing and just give up. It will be less painful for you that way.” Bronk mocked as he tried to ignore a strange headache that he felt coming on, choosing to instead focus on the incredible power of the Seal that was flowing through him.

“No way am I ever giving up on you Bronk! You’re my friend and nothing you say will change that! So lets Jet! I play <Overlay Capture> this spell gets rid of all your monsters Overlay units before becoming an Overlay Unit which I attach to Utopia. And since your monster relies on its Overlay Units for its attack, you monster now drops to 500ATK!”

“NO!”

Bronk’s monster seemed to slump, its puffing steam fizzed out as the red glow of its core faded to a feeble glimmer.

“Now it’s time I cut your giant down to size, I switch Utopia into attack mode and attack your Moving City! Rising Sun Slash!”

[N39 ATK:2500 > MMC ATK:500 – Bronk LP > 1150]

*SLASH*

Bronk’s monster was sliced in half and exploded into a blast of smoke. Yuma knew he need more time to figure a way to get the both of them out of this situation, but he couldn’t just be on the defensive or Bronk would eventually build up enough force of overwhelm him.

“Next Gagaga Cowboy will attack your Green Gadget! And by using one Overlay Unit, my monster gains a 1000ATK while yours loses 500!”

[Gagaga Cowboy – ATK:1500 > 2500 OU:2 > 1, Green Gadget – ATK:1900 > 1400]

This attack would take Bronk’s life points down to only 50, but so long as it didn’t hit zero Yuma would have a chance to still save him.

“I activate <Xyz Reborn> to revive Metrohold the Moving City on the front row in defence mode. That means you can’t attack my Gadget, just give up!” Bronk interrupted.

Bronks monster appeared like a wall, blocking Yuma’s monster from attacking his helpless Gadgets.

“So what? Now you monster is nothing but a big wall, I will smash it down and find a way to save both of us. I won’t give up even till the end, because I am your friend Bronk no matter what New Order has done to you. I end my turn.”

Yuma’s friends at the side felt helpless, all they could do was watch as one friend tried to destroy the other while the other tried to save them both. All they could do was pray that Drake could find them, before it was too late.
