My Stubborn Mistress - Chapter 408 Somewhere, Trapped in Time
They said at once.
“Cassandra…” Quinn takes big steps toward her, but she strides back. “Don’t be afraid. We will explain it to you…”
“What is this?” she asked. “What’s going on? Why are you talking that I was not living here? I don’t understand!”
“Don’t worry, everything will be alright. Can we go back to your bedroom first?” he urged. Cassandra did not move but remain glaring at him, puzzled.
“Cassandra…” Quinn tries to hold her, but Cassie steps back. A sad smile curled his lips. “I will accompany you back to your room.”
Cassie gives them a dubious stare before she turns around and walks back to her room with hasty steps. Quinn nodded at everyone, then followed Cassandra.
After making sure Cassandra entered the room, Isabella proceeded.
“Madison, let’s seal off her memory from here.”
“Can we do that?” she asked.
“Yes. We have the Shamans here.”
“Who—”
“Auntie Ling? Uncle Jong?” shocked displayed in Levi’s face. “Then both of you are Shamans?”
The couple nodded. “Yes, we are.”
“And KEEPERS…” Auntie Ling added, beamed at Levi and Madison.
“Oh, do you have memories from the life that does not exist anymore, Auntie Ling?”
“Yes, we have. We help Cassie sneak out the Island. We’re actually watching from a distance. Thank god, Master Shun Crow arrives at the right time riding his private chopper.”
“Ah, brother Quinn should hear this!”
“That’s what developed in the book, yes,” Uncle Jong retorted.
“Because we are partly who wrote the book… from memories, we keep from that life,” Aunty Ling added.
“Now I remember, the Book of the Past has changed as well.”
“It carries the Keepers’ memories, yes, Madison and Levi.”
“Oh, we understood now!” Levi took Madison’s hand and entwined. Lovingly, he peered at Madison, leaning to kiss her.
“Ah, I was too hungry. Let’s go, Mama. They probably set the table now.” Derek guided Isabella toward the grand staircase.
Isabela wearing red gloves, she places her right hand into Derek’s elbow.
“My immortality is like, how to say it… disappearing? Fading slowly? But I am happy, I can get near to you like this,” she told Derek.
“I’m happy too, Mama.”
Most of the time, she only has a glimpse from a distance. Now, she could finally hold her son.
And then, following them, is Nicholas. He patted Ken’s back and invited him toward the Dining Hall.
Left behind were Levi and Madison, who haven’t finished kissing yet. The two bodyguards stood— back to their post and pretended they were like a statue in the corner; witnessing nothing.

Inside the bedroom, Quinn follows silently. Cassandra halted in the middle of the room. It was obvious everything confused her and she felt lost.
“Cassandra…”
She turned around and looked at him. “Who are you?” she asked afterward.
It is painful, asked by the woman you love so much but only think— you are just a stranger to her. But he understood as she is part of Cassandra’s soul. Quinn gradually strides toward her, which she turns around and gives back to him.
Her eyes grew wider; knees suddenly weakened when this man threw his arms around her waist and felt a warm, firm broad chest on her back. She blushed and froze to her feet.
‘What is he doing!?’ she screamed. ‘Why is he hugging me now?!’
Quinn tightens his embrace to this woman inside his arms. He doesn’t care anymore if she will get confused further by whatever is happening to her at the moment.
“I missed her so much…” he whispered.
“Who— who are you talking about?” she stutters her words because her heart is beating crazily. Even though she doesn’t understand why it beats after it feels his warm embrace.
“I missed the girl who owns this body.”
“What are you talking about, Mister? I— I don’t understand.”
‘Mister? It’s not master?’ Cassandra used to tease him by calling him a MASTER. He heaves a long sighed.
“I see that, but honestly, I don’t know how to explain this to you. Give me a minute,” he requested.
He feels when Cassandra shudders. It happens, he buried his face between her neck and shoulder.
Cassie presses her lips. Should she believe everything is just a dream? Or this is actually happening to her in reality?
“The life where you came from… there’s also me who is waiting for you there.”
Cassie freed himself. She turned around and looked at him with amazement. “What are you talking about now?”
“What you are seeing here is the same in that life.”
“I don’t really understand, Mister.”
“All right. I don’t know when she will come back. At the same time, once she comes back, it means you are also going back to your real body. You and her switching bodies.”
“I guess I’m naïve about understanding nothing. Why does it happen? Am I dreaming, or—?” she gulped. ‘This guy seems like he wanted to eat me. He’s looking at me like… ah, how to say it?’
Quinn curled an amusing grin. The Cassandra in front of him is looking at him cutely… too innocent. Sometimes her face twitches. He was curious about what was she’s thinking.
‘AHH…’ he wanted to kiss her. But a big NO.
She belonged to Quinn in that life… and his Cassandra who was in that life is lonely and alone now.
Quinn raises his right hand and pushes that few strands covering her left eye. “It’s okay… you are just 15 years old and you are living with lies and secrets in that life. Don’t worry, okay? Soon, things will get better. But listen to me… there are important matters that must happen so you can be one with her, living in the present life.
“You’re making me confused even more.”
“I know. But soon, you will understand everything. For now, we will send you back to your actual body. And at the right time, you will understand all of these. Listen, you belong to this life. But until you are alive and that life exists, you will keep switching with her.”
“What are you saying? That I must die?”
“And him…”
“Who’s him?”
“The Quinn in that life.”
“What?”
