My Stubborn Mistress - Chapter 409 Somewhere, Trapped In Time
“The Quinn in that life.”
“You mean, you?”
He nodded. “By now, Quinn just learns you are alive. But it won’t be easy for him before he could protect you. At the right time, you will meet again.”
“I see. But then tells me this is not my first time switching her body, is it?”
“No. You have been switching many times, yes.”
“All right. But why could I remember nothing when I go back to my original body?” she asked further.
“Oh. Is that so? You remember none about this life once you go back there? We should tell them about this. Maybe Lady Isabella knew an answer.”
Cassie nodded. She exchanges gaze with him, then realizes they are now sitting on the sofa and holding hands. Blushing, she takes back her hand.
“I’m sorry. I think it was a familiarity in my body. We used to be this intimate.” Hoping she understands. Quinn’s thought.
“Okay.” Still, she would blush as her heart flutters to be touched by him. This body feels that familiarity, but her mind wasn’t used to this.
“Back to what we talked about, Cassandra could still recall what happens to her in that life. But in your case, something must be wrong, or it was because your life was not supposed to exist. Maybe something connected to that.”
“I do not understand.”
He peered at Cassandra. It tempted him to kiss her. She was too cute as innocence beaming in her eyes. There are sparks like the real Cassandra who owns this body. And to imagine that other life. He somewhat felt jealous in which he should not because he and Shun is one. Soon, they should be one. Besides, his Cassandra was still 17 years old, and he did not hold his promise to wait for the right time until they got married. Now she is pregnant. But it made him too happy.
“How about the shaman you speak of?”
He came back to his senses, hearing this sweet voice. He chuckles after remembering no one notices she has been listening to them. But it did help them learn the truth; things will be easy for them to explain everything to her, especially about him.
Quinn did not take his eyes off her. He noticed she moved farther from him.
“Oh, again. I haven’t noticed my body moving on its own.” As he thought, this is his Cassandra.
She takes a distance after the back of his palm brushes her cheek. It must startle her when he keeps touching her: brushing her hair down her cheeks, holding her hands becomes his habit. He could not help now that this body is carrying his child.
“Lady Isabella will explain further later. What dinner would you like to eat?”
“Um… anything is fine.”
“No particular?”
She is pregnant. Soon she will crave certain foods.
“I think I could eat anything. Is that bad?”
He let out a sexy laugh. “Not really. You need it instead.”
“How should I die?” she asked.
Quinn froze. His gaze softens as he pulls her closer and hugs her tight. “It kills me to imagine you died. But it is the best idea for Shun to give up that life.”
“Oh, both of us should die?”
“Yes.”
“So, how should we die?” she asked Quinn. She is keen to hear. “So then, I must tell Quinn we must die? I mean, YOU in that life. So we can join you here in the RESET LIFE?”
“To put it that way, yes.”
Looking at her lovingly, he went on, “it is a complicated situation for you. But if you could recall. Tell Shun what did you find out in this life and what must happen to the both of you.”
“Oh, it was more like a mission? That is my purpose?” There are sparks in her eyes. But she worries if she could remember everything she found out.
He nods. He sees the excitement in Cassandra’s eyes, a desire to make things right. She seems to understand, but the fear in his heart remains. How if things go wrong, and Cassandra completely traps in that life through eternity? He’s hoping, safely, she could come back to this life along with the Cassandra he is with now.
Contemplating as living here, she wants to stay forever. This happiness overwhelms her heart. She wants to remain feeling it. Back in that life, she was too lonely as she felt alone. “I want to stay here forever,” she mumbles.
“You belong here. I won’t stop finding ways to end this all. And if it takes time, which I don’t know when this ends, I promise, I will take you home no matter what.”
He shed tears after Cassandra threw her arms around his neck.
“I will patiently wait then!”
They stayed embracing each other for a few more seconds before Cassandra parted from him. But he notices a few drops of tears trailing down her cheeks.
“What’s the matter?” asked Quinn, brushing off the tears on her cheeks.
“Nothing. I’m just happy and sad. I wished to end soon. I see how much you really love and miss her.”
Quinn gleamed. He reaches her head to run his fingers through her hair. “I do. I love you with all my heart.”
It amused him to watch Cassandra’s cheeks flustering red. From now on, he must let her feel she is no different from the real Cassandra but part of her soul. All he has to do is to make them one.
Although it must happen hard, that life must disappear soon.
“Oh, before I forget. We should tell your parents you already knew, and they must know that you are pregnant.”
Although her cheeks even flush after remembering this body is pregnant, that happiness displayed on her face.
“Do you mean the alive Mama Hannah and Papa Landon?” Her eyes beam from happiness. As the RESET LIFE, it means they were alive, and she will go to meet them.
“Can I see them?”
“They just hid because in that lifetime you came from, they were already dead. It will confuse you if you see them alive.”
“Oh. Thank you, Quinn!”
She hugs him once again, and it tempts him to kiss her. This frequent body contact is dangerous.
